Members Project

Members ProjectThis gorgeous site also has purpose: American Express funds $2.5 Million to 5 user-selected projects addressing everything from environmental issues to education, community development to health. Apparently meaningful content drives great design, as shown in the clear and crisp layout of this altruistic project. But just as important as the site design, is the variety of brilliant ideas [link] giving hope to people from all walks of life, no matter what country or culture.... More

Eden Organix

Eden OrganixThe first site in our new web design category of "green" design, Eden is a shop that carries over 20 different hand-picked brands of eco-friendly cosmetics and beauty products. The site design strikes the right notes with some very neutral toned, earthy, color choices. It also features a harmonic design system using an inverse bracket – playing off of their logotype – that runs through the site. Spacious typographic lock-ups and ample white space round out the entire experience, which ultimately leaves shoppers feeling good about making healthy choices.... More

THE ECO ZOO

THE ECO ZOOIf you wanna see something fantastic, look to nature... but if you are sitting behind a computer, you should settle for the second best thing. Explore this green-themed web site built with Papervision 3D engine in Flash. Be sure to check out the pop-up books, and the unique animals in this amazing site which will actually teach you a thing or two about how to live green(er). We were also amazed by the fast loads, smooth transitions and ability to manipulate your view of the 3-D environment.... More

the greencurve + alittlebettergasstation

the greencurve + alittlebettergasstation.comThis posting is actually two sites by BP—two sites which share the same branding, color scheme and purpose; to indroduce us to "greener" ways we can live our lives in conjuntion with gasoline usage. BP is savvy when it comes to grasping the idea of environmental impact, and has used it extensively in crafting their brand. In site one, (thegreencurve.com - see main link) we learn how well we are doing personally on the "greencurve" of environmental impact. In site two, alittlebettergasstation.com, we explore some new forward-thinking industrial design by BP in the form of their futuristic and eco-friendly gas station. This page contains a stand-alone Flash piece that uses animated, "cartoony" characters reminicent of very early TV ads for gas stations with a dash of Looney Tunes thrown in. Hopefully, this kind of thinking, and eco-friendly branding becomes more of a trend moving into the future.... More

nau

nauDoes the world need another sports clothing company? Absolutely—when that company such as nau sets forth with a new business paradigm... a company that puts design and functionality first in both their business philosophy and the development of their products. With the goal in mind to create something other than a business with "profit" as their bottom line, nau is unique. It is a company looking to profit from the ways they can share and sustain beauty, and positively change the conditions of conventional commerce. When companies take action like this, we all profit! Simply an amazing grid-based design, fabulous functionality, photography, and excellent interface design.... More

Planet Earth

Discovery Channel | Planet EarthDon't forget to catch this show this Sunday. Planet Earth, a five years in the making mini-series event will be an epic visual feast for the mind and eyes. In this day and age where we may easily forget that we even share this planet with other animals, this show will hopefully be a consciousness-expanding event. While the site itself has some poor points, is overly bulky (need at least 1GZ and broadband) and is rather disjointed, it really will come down to the show broadcasting on March 25th. This site gives you a tiny taste of this marvelous new nature show... and sadly, perhaps one of nature's last hurrahs.... More
