a-hum

a-humThis project introduces stories of Brahmi (ancient Sanskrit letters) in a format that combines visual art, music and the latest web technology. The navigation is perfectly minimal and the delivery of this editorial is purposely deliberate and slow; be prepared for slowly evolving photography that is, however, worth the wait. The conceptual inspiration of the project is rooted in Buddhist philosophy and is intended to deliver a message on tolerance, compassion and the nature of being. AIGA Design Archives

AIGA Design ArchivesThe ultimate collection of awarded designs, the AIGA Archives are the recorded catalog of annual juried selections in design excellence. Featuring 3,269 hand-picked entries (at this posting) from the '365' annuals dating back to 1994 (issue no. 15), the entire site is a graphic designer's goldmine. The best part is the Flash-built interactive navigation which allows you to browse and cross-reference entries by publication date and category—to reduce 3,269 down to 24 specific entries in a matter of three-four clicks... and even lets your lightbox your favorites. (It's only really missing the best selections in interactive design, but that's why you are here, right?) Pretty... no, very damn cool.... More

Colors magazine

Colors magazineWhether in print or online, it is, as ever, a cynical, provocative but unbiased look at the world, and the way we live in it, using big pictures and few words. Powered with Shockwave and Flash. digital experiences

digital experiencesDigital Experiences (UK) is a fine representative of the experimental Flash Tek sites, showcasing 'physical' interactions and some quite pleasing control modules for your entertainment. The digital experiences modules focus on some of the more commonly seen effects - spacial, dynamic and repetitive interactions - but also deal with type, physics, some cool 'control' interfaces, and even creates some beautiful pieces with their light and fanciful design elements.... Ego Media

Ego MediaOne of the first sites to feature complete full-screen - semi-video - Flash with an effective interface to accomplish total user immersion. Boldly emphatic but with a nice duotonal edge that lends a touch of sophistication and saves K. Even so, anything less than ISDN may lose some of the fabulous flow and those ego-maniacal movie trailer style intros. As far as we know, at this time, the firm does not exist or has reformed under a new name.... More

Discover the brain-bugs, the hand-flowers and the hearts with human caterpillars, all inside the incredible universe of El Semillero?", a school for creatives, advertisers and designers located in Mexico. The site is truly an ingenious work of love, with 5 stages of such beautifully animated and rich interactive sections, it makes it difficult to put into words. From what we could gather with our tepid Spanish skills, El Semillero is essentially an elite design school that is responsible for filling up many of the open positions in Spanish speaking advertising agencies across the world. It's really worth checking out every section completely, as each area has its own fantastic elements.... More
