Mint Collection

Mint CollectionIn this crispy, modern grid-based design, Noise 13 Design has created the showcase site for Martin Building's newest project – Mint Collection. This set of four historic buildings in San Francisco has been meticulously designed and developed into 95 luxury residential, live/work and commercial spaces... and to reflect that, the site has a clean, minimal and luxurious "air" to match. Quite a nice presentation for an upcoming neighborhood in Union Square.... More

MoMA | Comic Abstraction

MoMA | Comic AbstractionThis site contains works from MoMA's Comic Abstraction exhibition (curated by Roxana Marcoci) and includes artist interviews, audio, and supplementary texts in a nifty, contained little Flash piece. The exhibit itself brings together the works of thirteen contemporary artists whose works examines the ways artists in the last decade have used lowbrow popular culture as springboards for abstraction and to address today's perplexing questions.... AIGA Design Archives

AIGA Design ArchivesThe ultimate collection of awarded designs, the AIGA Archives are the recorded catalog of annual juried selections in design excellence. Featuring 3,269 hand-picked entries (at this posting) from the '365' annuals dating back to 1994 (issue no. 15), the entire site is a graphic designer's goldmine. The best part is the Flash-built interactive navigation which allows you to browse and cross-reference entries by publication date and category—to reduce 3,269 down to 24 specific entries in a matter of three-four clicks... and even lets your lightbox your favorites. (It's only really missing the best selections in interactive design, but that's why you are here, right?) Pretty... no, very damn cool.... More

FAILE

FAILEIf you're not familiar with his work, FAILE is one of the modern day gods of the half-tone dot, stencil art, and gritty pop-culture graphics—and we were ecstatic to discover this website covering his unique multimedia designs. Done up like a sort of yellow pages ads on LSD, FAILE's many projects pick up where Andy Warhol left off... Prints, stencils, screenprints, and videos that resemble a street art-inspired cross between CONCRETE TV (MNN) and the Cartoon Network run through a photo copier. There's just too many gems in his site to list here, but let's say: clicking around will be heavily rewarded. For us, beyond a doubt, one of the best sites and artists of the year.... More

Teddies in Space

T.I.S. - The Art of Philip JordanLike a low-fi Star Wars in a cardboard box, this spectacular Flash website design comes to you from a galaxy far, far away... Ok, well, not that far these days if you live in Europe... This is the art portfolio of a German born painter and graffiti artist, whose spray-can work and art features funky characters, and colorful animals. And actually, without being rude, we thought the site itself at times outshined the work inside. Simply out of this world!... More

Hollywoodland

Hollywoodland: Frank Lloyd WrightA beautiful and simple minimalist tribute to a set of five Los Angeles homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1920's. These designs of his, defined by the concrete brick work, are simply summed up - not with so many words - but with a series of full-screen photographs... the remainder of the inpretation is up to you.... History of Parliment

History of ParliamentFrom Kings and Queens right down to Ministers, Members, and all their Yea's and Nea's, this rightfully clean and proper site covers a very comprehensive research project: The History of Parliment creates an account of parliamentary politics in England, then Britain, from their origins way back in the 13th century. Unparalleled in the comprehensiveness of its treatment, the History is generally regarded as one of the most ambitious, authoritative and well-researched projects in British history. This site gives you an overview of the entire project and some behind-the-scene insights.... More

Robotmania

RobotmaniaThis site will be of special interest to anyone fascinated by the dreamy age of space travel and technology, and of course to collectors and fans of 50s and 60s tin toys. The amount of creativity and artistic talent that went into crafting this collection of space-themed toys and robots is truly amazing—certainly these unique pieces define a bygone era not to be repeated again. And the Flash site by Alberto Cerriteno is a perfect blend of modern, yet rustic design... and even includes a retro game of Space Invaders.... More

The Highline Preliminary Design

The Highline Preliminary DesignThe Highline is a 1.5-mile historic, defunct, elevated rail structure on Manhatttan's West Side. This robust website was created to showcase the design concepts for the public park conceived by Field Operations and Diller Scofidio + Renfro, in conjunction with a show at the MoMA. Mimicking the floating above the street feel, the site flows horizontally, unfolding like a long, scrolling path, capturing the meandering, exploratory experience of the place. Much like the finished Highline, this site is worth exploring slowly, viewing all of its parts to enjoy the full experience.... More
