The Royal Mint - New Designs

The Royal Mint - New DesignsWhat if one 26 year old designer could change the way you look at history? This is the real story of how Matthew Dent, a professional graphic designer, won a competition to redesign the coins of the entire British nation. He has literally stamped his mark on the future, by redesigning the past. Truly, if you needed proof, here's how one person with some original thinking can affect millions of people. Inspiring to say the least.... More

Gullyland

Gully - AnalectesThere are several things to like about this music site for composer & sound designer, Philippe Gully. The site is all about simplicity and navigation, and the interface responds to Philippe Gully's three usage requirements: 1) As few clicks as possible. 2) No classic sound player, and 3) it tracks the listening time on each song of the album. By the way, did you notice he doesn't even hit you with music until you click something? (Kudos!) In his spare time, Gully works in multimedia, videos, movies, and online projects – and you can see his new portfolio, here.... More

Matthew Mahon

Matthew MahonA great use of Flash zoom with tasty photo-realistic illustrations strikes the right note, and makes this professional photography portfolio a real treat to explore. Dynamic Tower

Dynamic TowerTalk about your pie in the sky! Architecture firm David Fisher's Dynamic Group has released plans to build the world's first rotating skyscraper (Where else, but in Dubai – of course, the home of over-the-top taste). Each floor will have the ability to rotate independently (slowly, we hope), creating an ever-shifting visual line and myriad shapes. While the skyscraper breaks all previous molds, the web site for the architecture firm (link) falls way behind the times with several broken images, lackluster layouts, misspelled page titles, and poor transitional effects. At a minimum cost of $4M per apartment, you'd think they could do just a little better job designing a dynamic web site! Hmmm... I think we smell a sales opportunity!... More

Explore this green-themed web site built with Papervision 3D engine in Flash. Be sure to check out the pop-up books, and the unique animals in this amazing site which will actually teach you a thing or two about how to live green(er). We were also amazed by the fast loads, smooth transitions and ability to manipulate your view of the 3-D environment.... More

Au Revoir Simone

Au Revoir SimoneA gorgeous full-screen collage design for a sensual, delicate group of three indie musicians from Brooklyn, New York. The full-page collages hit all the right notes, emoting a soft and natural feeling, combined with a smattering of photos of the beautiful pop group. Wispy, but solid and grounded with flattering, feminine strength.... More
