A new web application that lets you create an entire font online (using a palette of grid-based modular vectors), then export a high-quality TrueType font ready to use on any Mac or Windows PC. The technology is impressive (nice flash interface and the back-end done in Java, apparently) and overall the project is beautifully executed. It's a good example of a web application used as a marketing tool to sell retail fonts. Plus, it never hurts to have another digital font around... does it?... More
We're kinda tired of the whole "vs." concept—something that was born out of graffiti, and is now used to describe every little design collaboration under the sun. As if these designers aren't truly joining heads, but actually duking it out on the computer like a heads-up match of Quake III. The Hurricane Poster Project gathers limited edition sets of hurricane-related posters from high-profile and up-and-coming artists, designers, and firms from the United States and abroad. The donated posters are sold at this site, and all profits go directly to the Red Cross. We liked the short range of selected designsmost of which revolve around trees, leaves and water imagery.
