Humanot

Humanot - Portfolio of John SlabykDefinitely one of the more exceptional portfolios of 2007, from top to bottom it will surely blow you away with high quality design. Originally a Film & Animation student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, John Slabyk shines brightest when creating identity and logo designs. But, as you could guess, he also produces high-impact motion designs, print, sports-team logos, and just some of the crispiest websites around. We could spend a few days in here disecting this marvel of work... but we could never, ever imitate it.... More

Romantic Static

Romantic StaticBased out of San Francisco, Romantic Static provides print and interactive design works for clients ranging from local bands to global advertising agencies. We quite liked their site navigation in the form of "old time" slide viewers which evokes a feeling of childhood simplicity. Also, we enjoyed their collection of nostalgic tshirts - some designed for some well know clothing labels - which are available in their own online shop. A nice all around boutique.... More

Wilkerton

WilkertonWe had to dip to the old Digitalthread to find out that we first posted up Ben W. Tousley's portfolio back when he was only 17 years old in 2004! Now a ripe 20, Ben sends us a notice of an update of new works... and we can't say we are at all disappointed. In fact, more impressed than ever that this tidy graphic designer has found his own niche in creating some strong promotional and print designs for music bands, with the occasional poster thrown in. Great, clean typography and nice decorative illustrations.... More

Arteye

ArteyeArteye is the personal portfolio of 32 year old Jason Kirtley, who claims he's been a professional web designer since he was 8! Well, not really, but he had a computer back then, and crayons -- how cute! But Jason's a grown boy now... Just look at him now with his new site (as of this posting). It's pretty slick. Obviously Jason knows a little bit about making interactive Flash sites and has become immersed and versed in creating attractive print designs too. Yup... That's our little talent Jason... All grown up... Snnf!... More

TNOP

TNOPTnop Wangsillapakun – the man with one of the most unique names in design – has struck out to make a (new) name for himself... He has truly gone off the deep end and commited himself to focus on his bePOS|+|VE design studio, as well as do more of experimental and conceptual design work that he really enjoys. Formerly a senior designer with Carlos Segura at Segura, Inc. (Chicago), Tnop is originally from Bangkok, Thailand, and was schooled in the States at the Savannah College of Art and Design. His unique work and experimental print designs definitely put him at the forefront of today's contemporary artists and designers.... More

Julien Moulin

Julien MoulinCurrently a freelance designer working on both sides of the Atlantic, Julien Moulin has a solid history in design, working on newmedia projects including websites, CDRoms and animations for broadcast, but also in print and environmental design for more than 12 years (at this posting). His latest portfolio site incarnation is a superb showcase of his illustrative design nature, as it sparkles within a classic layout and brims with brightly colored web projects, identity design and animations.... LAB25

LAB25An independent designer with a nice non-scrolling portfolio of work. Edgy and urban, with a distressed tone, David Torres' work is mostly related to designs for a skateboard shop called CCS. We liked the stencil-style interface.... More

Designgraphik

DesigngraphikAfter a 5 year hiatus in online narrative work, Designgraphik has returned with a new release, VIII. Inspired by his own dreams (whom elses?) this graphic artist has turned to using a collage method to influence the structure and process of his narratives. If you've ever seen Koyaanisqatsi, then you have some idea of where he's going, however with much edgier and more abstract graphic overlay and manipulation. Very fascinating and haunting work.... Skwiot Smith

Skwiot Smithskwiot/smith is a small graphic art and design studio based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The work revolves around a smattering of many projects - from print, identity and collateral materials to CD designs, books, posters and websites. Essentially, this is a one person studio, and skwiot/smith is actually Peter Skwiot Smith... which tells us a little about the artist himself: He enjoys producing minimal, yet beautiful abstract works that are sprinkled with a distinct esoteric quality.... MAP

DesignbyMapYou know you've stumbled onto something special when you sense a light breeze tickling your screen. Very sensuous, slightly feminine, and with a clearly Eastern influence, MAP (previously DesignUnion, est. 2002) is a relatively new boutique with impressive and sophisticated clients. Paul Lee is the man; he majored in Rhetoric at Berkeley (who knew that would prove so marketable?), with an MFA from Yale. A bonus: he is fluent in Korean. And more than fluent in spare and lovely design. Go see. You'll feel rinsed.... More

Joshua Distler

Joshua DistlerThis super understated HTML portfolio betrays little of the actual work that went into the selected print and interactive projects. It doesn't scream "Wow. Look at me!", or "Hey, I'm a great web designer!". Nope. None of that. Partly that's because the designers' strength is in print, packaging and book designs. Partly because it's easy to update and shows photos of his work in a really accessible way. And partly because of the Joshaua's obvious love of minimalism. The end result is that we looked through almost all of Joshua's contemporary design works - including his contributions on none other than Apple's iPod and G5 award winning packaging design. Great stuff.... More

Mogollon

MogollonMogollon is collection of graphic design, production design, branding, illustration and motion graphics by a fresh, young duo who met while working on a film documentary for PS1/MoMa. They produce some interesting work spanning a range of media that has a youthful appeal and is still in a process of evolving. They even had a steaming series of music accessible from their site dubbed "Mogollon FM" which you can just click and play. These two are true kids of the multimedia age, getting their fingers messy in any way that they are able.... More
