Departures

DeparturesNo, they don't have an all-singing-all-dancing website... And that's exactly why we can't stop looking through their portfolio. Although you won't find many words in this fresh minimal portfolio, you will find intelligent, minimal print design with a simple concepts and elegant typography. From title sequences to annual reports, mailers to booklets and branding, the refinement of this work is second to none. Nice color choices too!... More

studio aka

studio akaConstruction paper cutouts and ‘primitive’ pen marks run rampant at the studio aka site. Some nice illustrations, but after perusing the sample pages, we have to say, um, "been there, done that." Sure, they've won awards, but if the London based production company doesn’t inject a little variety (and reach out from the UK), their days may be numbered. That being said, they can probably use the ‘singular style’ style for identity recognition, aka "branding."... More

Pop onto the Chromasoma site -- a division of the Me Company -- for a few moments of pure mindless scrolling and then, hey, take it with you! You get to keep a character for your very own desktop! Martin Fewell

Martin FewellLondon Art Monkey seeks clients interested in presenting a pseudo-Asian, semi-70’s vibe. Promoting magenta, lime and orange as the colours of the mo. Please ring on 555-UK-ROCKS for more info. We dig it, big time. Martin Fewell’s funky fonts are on display, as well as snippets of his website design and some print work, at this conveniently arranged portfolio pad. Some very nice work for past clients is here, but a fair bit of the best is in the “pitches” section. Loads of eye candy. The ideal ad-man for groooovy CD covers, as well as companies like Orange and a restaurant named Yellow. Check it out, man.... More

Navyblue

NavyblueThis Navyblue is anything but traditional and staid. They work with the UK's leading businesses, using websites, extra- and intranets, CD-ROMS, and plasma screen technologies to strategize brand building campaigns. Somewhat retro, Navyblue is cool and confident with their hip, in-your-face visuals. Highly-charged images, colors that glow, and designs that inspire. If you are looking to drastically change from the drab to the dramatic, Navyblue will definitely get you there.... More

Fluid

FluidKeep your computer hydrated with frequent trips to this watering hole! Fluid smoothly flows into four distinct divisions, including a game-specific site with enough goodies to keep gamers moist with delight. Speaking interfaces evoke nostalgic memories of Tron, but can't convince the webmaster to avoid long load times, making this UK-based site flows at its own pace: trickling.... More

Addison

AddisonAcross the pond, the influential work of the Addison Group towers like Big Ben over Britain. From establishing campaigns for the leading contenders in travel, retail services and utilities, Addison keeps a steady design eye on the pulse of the English beat. While expunging delightfully detailed goals of each individual client and their respective projects, glaring lack of flash parts and a failure to provide popups or expanding thumbnails provides a few subtractions in Addison’s otherwise check-plus performance.... Kleber

Versatility is the name of the game with this UK-based firm. Some designs belong in the Guggenheim. Others, an uptight housewife's magazine. Here are some talented people with no downfall in sight: No ego! No pretention! No capitalized letters! Simpler than the sites they've designed for their edgy rocker clientelle, their website is straightforward. One has the chance to immediately form their own opinion of the work. Surely, designers like these have no need to hide behind code-laden webdesign, confusing menus, or the most basic rules of grammar.... More

Good Technology

Good Technology provides creativity -- of the sensible sort! Pleasant. Nothing too complicated. Message gets across. Don't even need to have the newest version of Flash. Teal blue hues soothe the eyes. They even take care of site hosting and maintenance. We have a good idea what sort of clients these folks get, and they all probably get more hours of sleep per night than we do.... More
