ModernistaInstead of building out actual web pages, Modernista skipped right to the web results by building "hot links" directly to google, flikr portfolios, wikipedia descriptions, and facebook pages (no myspace or friendster - they really are forward thinking!). Yes, Modernista! has done the unthinkable for a web firm, although in a way, it's a logical progression for an agency showing they "get" online media and web 2.0. REZN8

Founded in 1987, REZN8 was an early-comer to the digital revolution, and is on a mission to create "emotion and wonder in the mind of the beholder." The Harvey Entertainment's Looney Tunes web site will surely do that, as well as Landmark Entertainment's "Prehistoric Chicago 3-D Ride Simulation Film" (complete with dinosaurs). REZN8 covers the gamut of broadcast, TV commercials, large-screen trailers, and web sites. We felt like kids in a...cartoon store. Mom! Oh Wow! Lookit THIS! AWEsome!... More

Rolito Land

From the devilish mind of Rolito comes a series of skewed animated clips worthy of their own independent film channel. With alien saucer sombreros and dogs with visible bladders, the fun on the site is superb and worthy of a call to Tim Burton. Sadly, said figures make navigation somewhat cumbersome and inconsistent, making us wonder if we actually got to see all the “delicious vectorial poisions” Rolito claims to be brewing.... More

Shynola

Here we go…another shy introvert trying to change the world. Based out of the UK, Shynola’s concentration of material stems from mostly video and music accompaniment. These visionaries demonstrate an utter lack of fearlessness reminiscent of their shyness-implying handle. Far from cautious, they represent an intriguing portrait of confrontational, hard-pressing brushstrokes that is the shining beacon for the art/media merger movement.... More

PSYOP

While we're at it... why not go all the way with the flat illustrated style and use it in video motion? Surely, this fantastic design organization, "Psychological Operations", can light the way. We especially liked 'Come Brazil'.... More

Acrylick

From Madrid -- hot, sweaty, sexy, slow long looks through a thick fringe of dark eyelashes. The barest hint of smile is offered, till YOU smile -- then --!! The flash of sharp white teeth. That's Acrylick. You can spend hours on their website; it weaves childlike and phallic images without apology. Amazing use of color and iconography. Some annoying typos and English language glitches (fair warning for the NARROW-MINDED), but absolutely nothing is lost in the translation. Very, very cool. And, ah, did we mention hot and sweaty? And sexsexsexy? Go now. Sweat.... More

Filmtecknarna

Filmtecknarna is a Stockholm animation group that wows Europe regularly with its award-winning commercials and music videos. Many of these are on the web site, so you can see for yourself. Very MTV influenced, very bold, in-your-face stuff. Great animation, too. In a few years, these guys will be appearing in the nightmares of the major executives at Disney and Dreamworks. In fact, considering how many nightmares those people must have, Filmtecknarna is probably already there.... More
