When two Swedes named Jojo and Jesper name their studio "Chevychase", it certainly raises some eyebrows on this side of the pond. But try as we might, we could not elicit any hard findings about the name choice from this Stockholm, Sweden based collaboration. Therefore, we can only assume Chevychase - in this case - is a small communications studio specializing in brand creation across various medias and platforms... and a collaboration between two designers... named Jojo and Jesper.... We liked the full-on style portfolio with huge project shots and a very clear listing of categories... even if you don't read Portugese, this visually driven site is self-explanatory, and quite enjoyable to surf.... SuperBlast is Manuel Osterholt, a young Berlin based freelance graphic designer and graffiti writer working on corporate design, graphic art, fonts and web design. His style is shaped by his lifestyle background: hiphop, punk rock and skateboarding, and he contributes his illustrations and artwork to related cultural projects and brands. Manuel has a nice combination of skills from the 'urban' scope of design, and produces some illin' illustrations, print, t-shirt designs and custom typography.... More
Anova, the online home of one-man multimedia machine Jesper Bentzen - unlike any other site we've recently viewed, grabs us with a single explosive introduction that showcases a gambit of technical and design abilities. Thus, the mood is set for viewing the portfolio of this young, modern 'renaissance' designer, whose work covers everything from post production to 3D modeling, identity design to web games, and photography to physical art installations. It's very impressive, especially considering the numerous bells and whistles this Flash expert has integrated into his portfolio interface and navigation... it certainly seems like there's nothing in the digital or design realm outside of Jespers' technical reach or artistic grasp. Freshlysqueezed is the very crisp and clean personal portfolio of interactive designer, Guy Moorhouse... who - at this posting - is to begin working fulltime at Airside, a London-based interactive agency. Since this is the first incarnation of his portfolio, we were very impressed with several things: It was clean, it used big type that was easy to read, it had really simple navigation, and it had little Flash subtleties (yes, sounds like an oxymoron) that made us realize this Guy thinks about usability for the medium. Because this virtual cork-board is truly the complete portfolio experience. It comes with large tear-off sample sheets and built-in Flash transitions that work seamlessly to create a great window into an immersive portfolio that we haven't seen produced quite as well anywhere else. In our opinion, all portfolio websites should look like this. Not that they should all look the same... Heavens, no! Just that they should all be fairly clean and simple, load quickly, and have interfaces that are instantaneously understood. Additionally, we should know immediately by looking at the outer wrapper, that the inner CSS and HTML code beneath is just as beautiful as the shell. Although mostly devoid of projects at the time of this posting, Majik Design is a young one-man design studio based in Helsinki, Finland that shows heaps of promise through his efficient understanding of design for the online medium.... A shapely portfolio of a designer with a singular vision... a logo and identity designer who simply loves shapes. This portfolio takes us back to the simplicity of design and some of the pioneer days, when classic Dutch designers used simple shapes and spaces to create beautiful objects, letters and forms. It's like working with childrens building blocks - simple forms bring out some of the best creativity. As a general rule, we often look at logos to see how good someone is in design, and their photography to see how bad they are. But defying any such convention, here is a digital designer from Germany who makes no area for his identity design, and actually has some really great photos in his photo area! We're sure that means something good... and sure enough, Torres' professional work mostly encompasses web, motion and print design, for which he has been nominated for many awards.
