By Hanna

By HannaA very beautiful wallpaper, textile and pattern design portfolio of Swedish artist and print-maker Hanna Werning. We loved the clean asymmetrical simplicity of the website which betrays none of the complex rich floral patterns and prints created within—which makes the discovery of each project a wonderful surprise. Her work also includes installations and exhibits beyond the print-making realm, and there certainly are some gems in here – like the Deer Mirror. Simply beautiful. Never gross... but very engrossing.... More

Proekt Bureau

Proekt BureauAnother website that gives a slightly simplified view of this design firm's work... but upon closer inspection and digging, reveals a pretty sophisticated print, packaging and design firm based in Moscow, Russia. You definitely have to work your way through some of the links and English misspellings to get to the heart of the work, but once you do, you might begin to discover the hard work ethic and refined class of this industrial design and print firm.... Dado Queiroz

Dado QueirozOne of the strongest typographic portfolios we've seen in a while, Dado gives us a nice pastel-hued wrapper with a sort of "scotch-taped-together" graphic accent that really works well for this boxy format. But beyond the online packaging, it's really all about the typefaces, flourishes & ornaments for this type afficianado who states at one point, "I like type so bad that I use it even when there's no text to be written". Now that's deep... but not nearly as deep as the brilliant print, poster and editorial work found in this simple, three page site. Fantastico.... More

Substancja

Substancja | Konrad WysokinskiA very straight-forward, linear portfolio design for a solid print, poster and identity designer from Warsaw, Poland. Substancja means – simply enough – "substance", which gives us some information about the designer's philiosophy and methods. He also has style and sophistication and a skill set of design techniques he applies across a wide range of work... But then, that would make one hell of a long URL for us to be translating.... More

Laurence Duchemin

Laurence DucheminEven though it's wrapped in a very under-designed blog template, this young French "graphiste" presents a very strong print portfolio. The white background and scroll actually lets his work shine forth—it's a powerful mix of modern typography, expressive book covers, cd sleeves, and illustrated type that show a complete command of many different styles of design – from whimsical lettering to classic Bauhaus, and many variations in between.... Michael Robinson

Michael RobinsonA very enjoyable portfolio of a U.K.-based graphic designer and experimental interactive thinker. Michael's work spans the spectrum of design, with work ranging from book covers to 3D motion experiements. We really liked his minimal site with large images, and from top to bottom each piece shines with its own vibrancy. Great use of colors—and black and white.... More

Gregory Durrell

Gregory DurrellIn a simple linear "book" format (on a website aptly named Xrtions) Gregory leads us through his outstanding graphic design projects created from 2004-2006. The typography, posters and print designs comprise a collection of client, personal and some school projects. A lot of the more social/political work comes from working as a graphic designer for a non-profit charity in Toronto called War Child Canada. A designer who is both socially responsible and extremely talented... well, watch out world!... More

Tarek Atrissi Design

Tarek Atrissi DesignAs if designing the logo and identity for an entire country (even the small country of Quatar) isn't enough, Tarek Atrissi also has a notable and wide range of graphic design accomplishments in typography, packaging, illustration and signage design. Born in Beirut, Tarek Atrissi has worked in Lebanon, the Netherlands and the U.S. and his work mainly focuses around Arabic graphic design and Arabic typography—an entire sphere of design that unfortunately suffers from severe disregard.... Andersen M Studio

Andersen M StudioPerhaps you are familiar with the analogy that the best barber in town has the worst haircut? Well, such is the case with Andersen M Studio, an oustanding independent creative studio with a less than spectacular website. It was formed by graphic designer, photographer and musician Martin Andersen (MA, RCA) in 2001, and because the site itself isn't Flashy or extremely well kept, it tells us something about the artists behind the work... For one, that they are too busy art directing cd sleeves, cranking out great print work, and making original music to be bothered with the ins and outs of HTML, CSS, and all the rest. Be sure not to miss their amazing little stop motion film either (see thumbnail).... More

Arjen Noordeman

Arjen NoordemanLike a select few other "top design agents", graffiti piqued this typographers interest in letterforms, color and composition. Studying graphic design - at Cranbrook, no less - would add the final layer of understanding to complete the "circle of vision" and enhance his craft. Sure, natural talents are obviously in the mix too, as can be seen in Arjen's powerful print, interactive, identity and typography work. To us, he's an icon in the design world... and if you don't believe, he'll make one for you to prove us right.... More

Humanot

Humanot - Portfolio of John SlabykDefinitely one of the more exceptional portfolios of 2007, from top to bottom it will surely blow you away with high quality design. Originally a Film & Animation student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, John Slabyk shines brightest when creating identity and logo designs. But, as you could guess, he also produces high-impact motion designs, print, sports-team logos, and just some of the crispiest websites around. We could spend a few days in here disecting this marvel of work... but we could never, ever imitate it.... More
